Enrolled as an advocate in 1986 with Bar Council of Rajasthan. Practiced in Trial Courts, High Court as well as Supreme Court. Served as Counsel for Commission in 3 Judicial Enquiry Commissions headed by the Retired as well as Sitting Hon’ble Judges of High Court. Remained Member of the Bar Council of Rajasthan from 2003 until his elevation as Additional Judge of the Rajasthan High Court. Held the post of Vice-Chairman, Bar Council of Rajasthan in 2004-2005. Took charge as Chairman, Bar Council of Rajasthan in 2010. Designated as Senior Advocate in 2011. Played a pivotal role in the construction of the new Bar Council of Rajasthan building at the Rajasthan High Court premises, Jodhpur.

Sworn in as the Additional Judge of the Rajasthan High Court on 30 May 2011 and assumed office as permanent Judge on 6 February 2013. Took oath as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court on 15 February 2023. Elevated as Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 9 November 2023.
